IR Activity Transparently and Fairly Communicates the Most Recent Information
TOTO undertakes to engage in communication with institutional investors and shareholders as well as with individual shareholders and investors in Japan and other countries on the basis of IR policy in order to treat them with transparency and fairness. In addition to disclosing information in a timely manner through its dedicated website, TOTO also holds separate meetings as well as briefings to explain its financial results.
We host explanatory meetings for private investors because we want them to be more interested in our business. We offer various opportunities to provide information for the private investors.
Visiting Foreign Institutional Investors
With economy becoming more global every day, our top management does IR activities every year for foreign investors to have them understand our corporate strategies enough before they buy our shares. We visit the investors in Europe, United States, and Asian countries. As they see the presence of our products growing in each country, their interest in TOTO is also growing.
What We Do for Domestic Institutional Investors
For domestic investors, we hold meetings to explain our strategies and invite them to our plants from time to time, not to mention announcing financial results twice a year and entertaining media daily.
We provide private shareholders with Special Benefit Plans to build closer relations with them. From fiscal 2012 onward, products (such as rice and wine) related to environmental and social contribution activities such as the TOTO Water Environment Fund and the TOTO Acorn Reforestation Project and products that help support disaster-stricken areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake will be selected as complimentary gifts. Evaluation by External Parties
In response to requests from investors and society, TOTO makes an active effort to disclose information on its CSR and ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) initiatives. TOTO's CSR activities are highly evaluated in and outside Japan and is included in the following SRI Index. SRI Index is a group of corporations that are selected for being excellent in not only profitability, but also CSR activities such as compliance with laws, good practice in employment, respecting human rights, good consumer relations, and contribution to society and to local communities.
Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World)
In FY2016, TOTO was again selected for the global socially responsible investment indicator, the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. This is the sixth consecutive year in which TOTO has been selected for this index. The DJSI was developed by S&P Dow Jones in collaboration with RobecoSAM, a company that specializes in investigating socially responsible investment. It analyzes corporations from the three perspectives of economy, environment, and society, and selects the top 10% of companies that excel in business sustainability. In 2016, 316 companies (including 26 companies from Japan) were selected from approximately 2,500 corporations assessed.
RobecoSAM CSR Rating
TOTO received a Silver Class CSR Rating in 2016 from RobecoSAM, a world famous company that evaluates socially responsible investing (SRI). RobecoSAM (Headquarters: Switzerland) evaluates the sustainability of approximately 3,000 corporations across the world each year in the three domains of economy, environment, and society. Among these, the most exemplary corporations are classified into Gold, Silver, or Bronze categories. In 2016, 77 companies were awarded the Gold Class, 74 companies were awarded the Silver Class and 97 companies were awarded the Bronze Class. In 2013, TOTO was awarded the Bronze Class, in 2014 the Gold class, in 2015 the Bronze class, and this is the fourth consecutive year in which TOTO has been selected for this rateing.
「FTSE4Good Index Series」
In FY2016TOTO was selected for the FTSE4Good Index, an equity index series that is designed
to facilitate investment in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards.
823 global companies are included in the FTSE4Good Index Series, out of which 160 are Japanese
companies.This is the first time TOTO has been included.
「MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes」
In June 2015, TOTO was selected for the global socially responsible investment indicator,
the MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes. The MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes, developed by MSCI Inc.,
analyzes corporations from the three perspectives of economy, environment, and society,
and selects excellent companies.

Ethibel Investment Register
As one of 344 companies (including 43 companies from Japan) selected for the "EXCELLENCE" mark for sustainability in the Ethibel Investment Register, a system for evaluation conducted by the globally influential SRI (socially responsible investing) research company Ethibel, TOTO was selected to be one of only 101 companies (including 12 Japanese companies) included in the superior "PIONEER & EXCELLENCE" category in FY2015.
Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI)
Estimated the match of global warming prevention highly from CDP*, TOTO was chosen as one of the leading companies in the disclosure of climate change information in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) in 2015. This is the fourth consecutive year in which TOTO has been selected.
*About CDP CDP is an international not-for-profit organization that provides the only global system for measuring, disclosing, managing and sharing important environmental information on companies and cities.
Morningstar Socially Responsible Investment Index (MS-SRI)
This is an SRI index that selects top 150 out of about 3,600 listed domestic companies using the five criteria of governance, marketing, employment, social contribution, and the environment. TOTO has been selected every year since 2006.
