Social welfare and local community harmony

TOTO Group employees are engaged as volunteers, including in arts and sports activities, youth guidance, assistance to the disabled, and in community activities. In addition, TOTO Group labor and management work together in fund-raising activities during disasters and at year-end.

Activities in Support of Disaster-Affected Areas

The Kumamoto Earthquake caused serious damage to the prefectures of Kumamoto and Oita in April 2016. To help aid the recovery of the affected regions, TOTO and its overseas group companies offered 13 million yen in donations. In addition, the company matched the volunteer donations raised by Group's employees, resulting in a total of 23.28 million yen also being offered to the regions struck by the earthquake.
In addition, we raised funds through the group fund raising system to aid in the recovery of disaster-hit regions in the wake of the major earthquake in Nepal in June 2015 and the torrential rains and ensuing flooding in Japan's Kanto and Tohoku regions in November 2015.
We are also continuing our reconstruction support activities for the region devastated by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as fund raising activities through the group fund raising system. In addition to these activities, we also organize and support events that help revitalize the afflicted regions, as well as provide support for local FM radio stations. We have agreed to the objectives of the Nippon Foundation's Work for Tohoku in collaboration with the Reconstruction Agency for dispatching employees selected from applicants to internals call to local governments. The first team of three personnel recently finished their terms, so two new individuals were assigned in April 2016.
