TOTO expects the photocatalyst technology business to expand within the worldwide market, and hopes that photocatalyst technology will be applied to various products in many business fields. We are actively promoting patent licensing to many companies in the world.

Regarding the patents for photocatalyst technology

In addition to the basic invention of photocatalytic ultra-hydrophilic technology,we have filed in excess of 1,200 domestic and overseas patent applications in relation to applied products, manufacturing technology and coating materials and have been granted approximately 500 worldwide patents to date.We have also signed license agreements with 94 manufacturers(including 14 overseas manufacturers) across a wide range of sectors mainly in Japan, North America and Europe.

What kind of product is suitable for appication?

These are a growing number of products using super hydrophilic photocatalyst technology in various fields.
For industrial products, glass, road materials, and various exterior wall materials including hydrotect ceramic tiles are already available.
For building materials, a service for renovating existing buildings has already been launched.
The estimated market for 2007 is approximately 70 billion yen, and further growth of the product with original technology from Japan is expected.
> Application of the product

Those who plan to enter the photocatalyst technology business

Try to develop, manufacture and market industrial products. (Primarily in the field of manufacturing.)
We are positively licensing our photocatalyst technology to companies considering thd development, manufacture and marketing of materials with photocatalyst technology.
(Exterior building materials with photocatalytic functions, and industrial products such as glass, road materials, and signboards, etc.)
